What an incredible day on Monterey Bay!
All three trips encountered numerous blue whales, with so many sightings on the afternoon trip that we lost count. Several fin whales, scattered humpbacks, and quick glimpses of minke whales were also seen throughout the day. Guests even spotted remoras attached to some of the blue whales and enjoyed excellent looks at a tagged humpback and several surface-active humpbacks.
Pacific white-sided dolphins stole the show, with energetic bow-riding, wake-riding, and acrobatic displays, including backflips. The afternoon trip finished with an unforgettable encounter with a pod of over 200 dolphins surrounding the boat as we headed home.
Additional highlights included Risso’s dolphins, a salmon shark, and multiple close passes from albatrosses.
